USEON Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) Compounding Systems
High-Efficiency Hot Melt Extrusion Solutions
USEON provides specialized extruder systems for Hot Melt Extrusion (HME). Hot Melt Extrusion is an advanced manufacturing technology based on melting thermoplastic and elastomeric materials using heat and mechanical energy, followed by homogeneous mixing and shaping. This technology is especially used for processing viscosity-sensitive resins such as hot melt adhesives.
What Is Hot Melt Extrusion?
Hot Melt Extrusion is the process of melting polymeric or adhesive-based materials at controlled temperatures and converting them into a homogeneous melt by means of an extruder screw. The melt is then shaped by passing through a die under controlled pressure and temperature conditions. This solvent-free, continuous production process offers an efficient solution for many industries.
USEON Hot Melt Extrusion Compounding Systems
USEON's Hot Melt Extrusion solutions provide reliable equipment for high-performance hot melt adhesive production. The systems are designed with capacities and process configurations suitable for different resin formulations.
Basic Formulations
EVA-Based Hot Melt
EVA, resin, wax, stabilizers, and additives are the main components.
TPU-Based Hot Melt
TPU is used as the primary polymer and blended with other polymers such as ABS, GPPS, or EVA, along with additives.
Hot Melt Production Processes
Hot melt production is divided into two main processes depending on melt viscosity:
Low Viscosity Process (<4000 CPS)
When the raw material viscosity is below 4000 CPS, a drop form pastillator system is more suitable. This system is also ideal for waxes, additives, and materials with low melting temperatures.
Process flow:
Distributor → Belt Cooling System → Bucket Elevator → Packaging System
High Viscosity Process (>4000 CPS)
When the material viscosity is high (e.g. adhesives), an underwater pelletizing system is a more effective solution. The process flow is as follows:
Loading → Feeding → Twin-Screw Compounding → Melt Filter → Melt Pump → Underwater Pelletizer → Dewatering → Classifier → Conveying & Storage
