GNEUSS MRSpure Recycling Extruder Technology

GNEUSS MRSpure extruder technology is an advanced extrusion system developed for the plastics recycling industry, particularly for the cleaning, degassing, and purification of highly contaminated plastic waste. The MRSpure extruder is an enhanced version of the Multi Rotation System (MRS) technology developed by GNEUSS and enables significantly more efficient cleaning and degassing of polymer melts.

The most important feature of the MRSpure extruder system is that, unlike the conventional MRS extruder design, it separates the melting (plasticizing) process from the degassing and decontamination process. This allows both stages to be optimized independently, resulting in much higher purity in plastic recycling operations.

This technology has been specifically developed for processing high-viscosity polymers, contaminated plastic waste, and mixed polymer streams. With the MRSpure system, materials such as HDPE bottle caps, HDPE milk bottles, LDPE film waste, and mixed plastic materials can be recycled with high efficiency.

MRSpure Extruder Design Principle

The MRSpure extruder system consists of two main extrusion stages:

Plasticizing (melting) extruder

MRS degassing and decontamination unit

With this design, the plastic material is first melted and then transferred to a separate extrusion section for degassing and purification. As a result, both process stages can be optimized independently to achieve maximum efficiency.

The MRS technology used in the MRSpure system operates according to the following principle:

The polymer melt is transferred into a large single-screw extruder drum.

Inside the drum, smaller extruder barrels are arranged parallel to the main screw axis.

These barrels contain so-called satellite screws.

The satellite screws rotate around the main screw while simultaneously rotating in the opposite direction.

This movement dramatically increases the surface area of the polymer melt. As a result, the melt is continuously exposed to vacuum over a constantly renewed large surface area, allowing volatile compounds, moisture, and contaminants to be removed very efficiently.

Technical Specifications of the MRSpure Extruder

GNEUSS MRSpure extruder systems are available in different sizes and capacity ranges. Technical parameters such as screw diameter and motor power vary depending on the specific model.

Typical technical specifications include:

Screw diameter: 35 - 200 mm
Maximum screw speed: 75 - 220 rpm
Motor power: 25 - 275 kW

Approximate machine dimensions depending on model:

Extrusion height: 1150 - 1450 mm
Machine length: 4100 - 6800 mm
Machine width: 1200 - 2670 mm
Machine weight: 3500 - 18,000 kg

These technical values demonstrate that MRSpure systems can be used in both medium-scale recycling lines and high-capacity industrial recycling facilities.

MRSpure Extruder Capacity Values

MRSpure extruder systems can operate across a wide range of capacities depending on the polymer type being processed.

Typical production capacities include:

PET: 35 - 2000 kg/hour
PP + PE: 25 - 1600 kg/hour
PA: 28 - 1900 kg/hour
PS: 30 - 1500 kg/hour

These capacity ranges indicate that MRSpure extruders can provide high production capacities in both plastic recycling plants and polymer processing lines.

Degassing and Decontamination Performance

One of the key advantages of MRSpure extruder technology is its excellent degassing and decontamination performance.

Thanks to the satellite screws, the polymer melt continuously forms a large surface area and is processed under vacuum conditions. This allows the efficient removal of contaminants such as:

moisture

volatile organic compounds

solvent residues

oil and additive residues

odor-forming substances

The system also enables plastic waste to be processed without the need for pre-drying, which significantly reduces both energy consumption and operating costs.

Food-Contact Approved Plastic Recycling

Due to the high level of cleanliness achieved in the recycling process, MRSpure extruder technology can also be used for food-contact compliant plastic production.

Thanks to approvals from various international authorities, plastics recycled using this technology can be used in applications such as:

food packaging production

cosmetic packaging

beverage containers

consumer packaging

This feature makes MRSpure technology an important solution for closed-loop plastic recycling systems.

Application Areas of MRSpure Extruders

MRSpure extruder technology is widely used in both the plastics recycling and polymer processing industries.

Typical applications include:

HDPE bottle cap recycling

HDPE milk bottle recycling

LDPE film recycling

mixed plastic recycling

plastic packaging recycling

purification of polymer blends

cosmetic packaging recycling

plastic pellet production

Advantages of MRSpure Extruder Technology

GNEUSS MRSpure extruder technology offers numerous advantages in plastic recycling processes:

independent optimization of melting and degassing processes

extremely high degassing performance

compatibility with a wide range of materials

low energy consumption

retrofit capability for existing extrusion lines

ability to achieve very high cleanliness levels

suitability for food-contact plastic recycling

These features make MRSpure technology one of the most advanced degassing and purification technologies in the plastics recycling industry.

High-Quality Plastic Recycling with MRSpure Extruders

MRSpure extruder technology enables the production of highly purified recycled raw materials in plastic recycling facilities. The advanced degassing system effectively removes contaminants and volatile substances from the polymer melt.

With this technology:

high-quality plastic pellets can be produced
