Vibrowest EVS Spiral Elevator Systems - Technical and Detailed Product Description

Vibrowest EVS series spiral elevators are high-performance conveying systems developed for industrial processes where bulk and granular materials must be conveyed vertically while being simultaneously cooled, heated, or moisture-balanced. Unlike conventional mechanical elevators, EVS systems use a vibration-assisted helical track design that transports the product in a uniform layer, maximizing process stability and control.

EVS spiral elevators provide a compact and efficient solution by combining conveying and thermal processing in a single piece of equipment. They are especially suitable for hot granules, extruded products, plastic raw materials, chemical granules, and similar bulk materials that require controlled handling immediately after production.

General Design and Structural Features

The core of EVS systems consists of helical (spiral) conveying tracks positioned along a vertical axis. These tracks are fixed to a vibrating structure, allowing the material to move upward in a controlled and continuous manner.

• Helical spiral conveying track design
• Vertical and compact layout with minimal footprint
• High-rigidity, vibration-resistant construction
• Conveying geometry that creates a continuous and homogeneous product bed

The housing and product-contact surfaces can be manufactured from AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel, depending on the application. For general industrial uses, painted carbon steel body options are also available.

Operating Principle - Vibration-Assisted Spiral Conveying

In EVS spiral elevators, the product is fed onto the helical track from the lower inlet. Controlled vibration generated by vibration motors causes the material to progress upward along the spiral path.

The key advantage of this system is that the product travels as a thin and stable layer throughout the entire conveying process. As a result:

• Product flow remains uniform and stable
• Particle-to-particle contact is reduced
• Heat transfer and moisture balance are precisely controlled

Conveying speed and residence time can be finely adjusted through vibration settings and spiral geometry.

Cooling, Heating, and Thermal Process Integration

The EVS series is not merely a conveying device; it can also function as a process reactor. The spiral body can be equipped to support various thermal processes:

• Integration of cooling jackets (chilling jackets)
• Heating jackets or electric heating systems
• Cooling using ambient or conditioned air
• Operation integrated with external chillers and cooling towers

In a typical application, EVS systems can be designed to cool PVC granules at a capacity of 2000 kg/h from an inlet temperature of around 90°C down to an outlet temperature of approximately 35°C. Such configurations may include:

• Spiral diameter of approximately Ø1540 mm
• Operating length of 12 spiral turns
• Dual vibration motors, each with a power of about 3.8 kW
• Total cooling capacity reaching up to 60 kW

Technical Performance and Process Control

EVS spiral elevators are optimized based on the physical and thermal properties of the processed material. During the design phase, the following parameters are carefully evaluated:

• Mass flow rate (kg/h)
• Particle size and size distribution
• Bulk density (kg/dm³)
• Inlet and outlet temperatures
• Moisture content and target moisture level
• Ambient temperature and relative humidity

Thanks to this process-oriented approach, EVS systems play a critical role in cooling and stabilization stages of plastic extrusion lines, masterbatch production, and chemical processes.

Model and Dimensional Options

The EVS series is not a standard off-the-shelf machine; it is engineered specifically for each application. Spiral diameter, overall height, number of spiral turns, and motor power are all customized according to process requirements.

Typical EVS configuration ranges include:

• Spiral diameter: Ø610 mm - Ø1540 mm
• Total height: 3 - 6 meters, depending on application
• Number of spiral turns: 8 - 12
• Product handling capacity: 500 - 4000 kg/h
• Motor configuration: single or dual motors, each approximately 2.5 - 4 kW

Certifications and Industrial Standards

EVS spiral elevators can be manufactured in compliance with the following standards and requirements:

• ATEX-compliant design for potentially explosive environments
• FDA-compliant materials and surface finishes
• IQ / OQ documentation
• GMP-oriented hygienic design

These features allow EVS systems to be safely used in food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

Application Areas

Vibrowest EVS spiral elevators are used across a wide range of industries:

• Plastics industry: cooling and conveying of PVC, PE, PP granules
• Masterbatch production: stabilization of hot granules
• Chemical industry: controlled conveying of reactive or hot materials
• Food industry: thermal balancing of granular and bulk products
• Recycling: cooling and transfer of regranulated materials

Key Advantages

• Combining conveying and cooling/heating in a single system
• Vertical and compact design for maximum space efficiency
• High process control through a homogeneous product bed
• Adjustable vibration for flexible capacity and residence time
