MTF Technik magnetic conveyors are high-holding-force magnetic belt conveyor systems developed specifically for transporting iron and ferritic metal parts. In these systems, powerful neodymium magnets are used with a low-friction conveying principle to safely and controllably move small, thin, or sharp parts. The parts are fixed directly onto the conveyor surface by the magnetic field and transported to the desired discharge point along the conveyor. This eliminates common problems seen with conventional belt conveyors, such as jamming, slipping, or accidents.
The body of magnetic conveyors is designed with torsion-resistant aluminum profiles, providing low wear, low maintenance, and long service life. Systems are available in both horizontal and inclined configurations, offering flexible solutions for different heights and angles within production lines.
System Structure and Design Features
Magnetic Conveying Principle
Magnetic conveyors operate with two parallel magnetic carrier chains that move along the length of the conveyor. High-strength neodymium magnets positioned at defined intervals on these chains attract ferritic parts through a stainless-steel sliding plate and transport them together with the conveyor. The sliding plate can be designed with either a smooth or a textured surface. The textured surface offers advantages for securely conveying oily, sticky, or slippery parts.
Modular and Robust Design
Magnetic conveyors are manufactured with a modular structure. This allows the system to be:
Mounted directly onto machine frames or configured as a free-standing conveyor with a base frame when required.
Produced in different magnetic belt widths and lengths.
Configured as inclined conveyors with conveying angles between 30° and 90°.
Designed as a fully enclosed system with no externally accessible moving parts, significantly improving occupational safety.
Three-Phase Motor and Control
Magnetic conveyors are driven by three-phase geared motors selected according to the required conveying capacity. Different motor output powers, gear ratios, and control options are available, enabling the conveying speed and overall system performance to be optimized for the specific process.
Technical Parameters and Dimensional Ranges
Belt Body and Dimensions
MTF magnetic conveyors are manufactured in standard dimensions as follows:
Belt width range: 200 mm – 600 mm
Belt length: 500 mm – 12,000 mm (longer designs possible with customized solutions)
Inclination angles: configurable in steps such as 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, and 90°
Base frame types: fixed frames, height-adjustable supports, telescopic legs, and other options
Conveying speed: adjustable over a wide range depending on the application
Motor type: high-torque three-phase motors (size and power selected according to conveyed material and speed requirements)
Conveying Capability
Magnetic conveyors perform particularly well in applications involving:
Transport of small metal parts, wire, bolts, washers, metal chips, and press scrap made of ferritic materials
Steep or vertical conveying applications
Long-term industrial operation requiring durability and low maintenance
Operating Principle and Mechanical Structure
The magnetic carrier chains continuously circulate beneath the conveyor surface and run on a bearing-supported chain system.
Parts held on the sliding plate move along the conveyor due to the magnetic attraction force.
At the discharge point, the distance between the magnets and the sliding plate is deliberately increased, allowing the parts to be released and discharged at the desired location.
Thanks to the fully enclosed design, risks such as part jamming, oil accumulation, or contamination are minimized, ensuring a high level of operational safety.
