Wanner Compact Series Granulation Machines
High-Efficiency, Quiet, and Flexible Size Reduction Solutions for In-Line Injection Molding Applications

The Wanner Compact Series granulators are compact, versatile plastic size-reduction machines developed for installation directly beside injection molding machines. Designed and manufactured in Germany, this series is specifically engineered for the immediate and efficient recycling of sprues, rejected parts, and small to medium-volume plastic waste generated during injection molding processes. As one of Wanner's most widely used machine groups, the Compact Series stands out for its quiet operation, low energy consumption, and high granulate quality.

The core design philosophy of the Compact Series is to deliver maximum process flexibility while requiring minimal floor space. Thanks to its robust geared drive system, optimized cutting geometry, and modular construction, a wide range of plastic materials and sprue sizes can be processed reliably and efficiently.

General Technical Design of the Compact Series Granulators

Wanner Compact granulators are designed with low rotor speed and vibration-damped housing structures, making them ideally suited for operation next to injection molding machines. The cutting chamber features an operator-friendly side-opening mechanism. This design allows full access to the rotor, screen, and knives within seconds, enabling very fast cleaning and material changeovers.

The cutting geometry ensures the production of homogeneous granulate with a low dust content for both soft and hard plastics. A wide range of materials, including glass-fiber-reinforced plastics, can be processed safely and efficiently.

Compact Series Model Options and Technical Specifications

The Wanner Compact Series is available in three different cutting chamber sizes and power levels:

C 13.20 Model
Cutting chamber opening: 130 × 200 mm
Rotor diameter: 140 mm
Number of rotor knives: 9
Number of stator knives: 2
Motor power: 2.2 kW
Machine weight: approximately 125 kg

This model is ideal for grinding small to medium-sized sprues and is particularly preferred for low-throughput injection molding applications.

C 17.26 Model
Cutting chamber opening: 170 × 260 mm
Rotor diameter: 170 mm
Number of rotor knives: 12
Number of stator knives: 2
Motor power: 3 kW or 4 kW
Machine weight: approximately 155 kg

The C 17.26 model is the most widely used version of the Compact Series and is perfectly suited for integration with robots or sprue picking systems.

C 17.31 Model
Cutting chamber opening: 170 × 320 mm
Rotor diameter: 220 mm
Number of rotor knives: 12
Number of stator knives: 2
Motor power: 4 kW
Machine weight: approximately 165 kg

This model is designed for processing larger and bulkier sprues as well as rejected molded parts.

Low Noise Level and Operator Comfort

Thanks to the low rotor speed and vibration-absorbing machine housing, Compact Series granulators operate very quietly. This significantly improves operator comfort in injection molding environments and, in many applications, eliminates the need for an additional sound enclosure. Noise-related occupational safety and ergonomic concerns are reduced to a minimum.

Energy Efficiency and Intelligent Control Systems

The Wanner Compact Series can optionally be equipped with Green Line and IQ Line energy-saving control systems. These systems ensure that the granulator operates only when required.

The Green Line control system prevents idle running through an automatic start-stop function. In typical injection molding applications, energy savings of up to 70 percent can be achieved.

The IQ Line control system offers a frequency inverter-based design. Rotor speed can be adjusted to match the injection molding process, significantly reducing energy consumption. In addition, the OPC-UA interface enables digital monitoring of energy usage, operating times, and maintenance data.

Modular Design and Application Flexibility

Compact Series granulators can be configured with a wide range of options, including robot-fed hoppers, standard hoppers, elevated frames, bag-filling systems, integrated dust extraction units, and various mobile base frames. This modular design allows fully customized solutions tailored to each injection molding line.

The integrated dust extraction unit enhances granulate quality, particularly when processing brittle or glass-fiber-reinforced plastics, ensuring clean and homogeneous regrind feeding back into the production process.

Easy Maintenance and Long Service Life

One of the key advantages of the Compact Series is ease of maintenance. Tool-free access to the cutting chamber, easily removable screens, and minimized material accumulation points significantly reduce cleaning and maintenance times. Wear-resistant cutting chamber components ensure long service life and stable performance.

In conclusion, the Wanner Compact Series granulators represent a professional recycling solution that delivers quiet operation, energy efficiency, high-quality granulate, and low operating costs over the long term when installed next to injection molding machines. They stand out as an ideal investment for both small and medium-sized production facilities.
