It has been designed to prevent material carry-over through the vacuum, a common problem in extruders. In addition to eliminating material loss, it protects your extruder from damage caused by molten plastic and uncontrolled gas discharge.
It does not create any negative effect on product quality; on the contrary, it prevents quality issues caused by vacuum gas and moisture accumulation.
It has been tested for more than two years on all thermoplastic materials and has delivered highly successful results.
Advantages:
Average capacity increase of up to 30%
Enables the extruder to operate at maximum capacity for all material groups
No need for the operator to constantly monitor the extruder
Improves operational safety and eliminates environmental contamination
Improves product quality by eliminating vacuum-related problems
Easy installation and removal
Self-cleaning design
Allows only gas discharge from the vacuum vent during production in twin-screw extruders
Custom-designed for all extruder brands and models
Installation possible in any direction, with safe and simple operation
Manufactured with the highest quality components and high precision
Approved product referenced by industry leaders
You can solve vent devolatilization problems with the vacuum stuffer.
Operation is independent of:
Material viscosity
Melt behavior (wall-adhering / non-adhering)
Degree of fill
Main extruder screw speed
Amount of volatiles
• Self-cleaning structure
• Wear-protected design
• Easy operation with maximum safety
• Modular design
Our vacuum stuffers have been installed on many types of extruders from different OEM manufacturers. By using a vacuum stuffer, you can:
• Reduce operating costs
• Minimize material scrap
• Shorten product changeover times
• Increase throughput rates
• Reduce safety risks
The axially open screw profile of the twin screw enables effective separation of melt and volatiles:
• The discharged melt is conveyed back into the main extruder process
• Gases are vented through the stuffer
• With each rotation, the screws wipe each other (self-wiping)
• Stable operation is ensured regardless of fill level, screw speed, or other process conditions
Vacuum Stuffer Operating Principle
• The axially open twin-screw profile ensures effective separation of melt and volatiles
• The discharged melt is returned to the main extruder process
• Gases are vented through the stuffer
• With each rotation, the screws wipe each other (self-wiping)
• Operation is independent of fill level, screw speed, and other process conditions
Polmak Vacuum Design
• Frequency-controlled AC drives
• Optional 90° splitter gearbox
• Vacuum sealing system for maximum efficiency
• Easy modular adaptation to different main extruders
• Optional modular screws for different applications:
Screw pitch
Screw materials
Installation
Installation of the vacuum stuffer on the vent port is very simple. The existing vent port on the extruder is removed and replaced with the vacuum stuffer, then secured by tightening the bolts.
The system is started from the control box, and the speed can be adjusted via the potentiometer on the control unit.
