Solvent-Based Parts and Equipment Cleaners

ACCA Solvent-Based Parts and Equipment Cleaners are professional maintenance products developed to remove oil, grease and various production residues from industrial parts, machine components, mechanical assemblies and compatible electrical and electronic equipment.

Solvent-based cleaners are particularly useful where water cannot be used, rapid drying is required or oily contamination must be dissolved within a short maintenance period. They help dissolve oil and grease deposits so that contamination can be removed efficiently from compatible surfaces.

The ACCA range includes products for general-purpose parts cleaning, fast- and very-fast-drying applications, electrical installations and sensitive electronic equipment.

Effective Cleaning of Industrial Parts

Oil, grease, machining fluids, dust and production residues can accumulate on machinery, mechanical parts, maintenance equipment and assembly components. Such deposits may make inspection more difficult, interfere with the operation of mechanisms and increase the time required for maintenance.

Solvent-based cleaners help dissolve oily contamination and separate it from the surface. Depending on the product and ambient conditions, their evaporation characteristics can allow cleaned components to proceed quickly to inspection, maintenance, lubrication or assembly.

This can be especially valuable in production facilities where lengthy stoppages are undesirable and parts must be cleaned and returned to service promptly.

Applications in the Plastics and Rubber Industries

Injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding, thermoforming and rubber-processing facilities use numerous mechanical, electrical and electronic systems. Oil, grease, dust and process residues can gradually accumulate on machine components and maintenance equipment.

Following confirmation of product and material compatibility, ACCA solvent-based cleaners may be considered for:

* Machine parts and mechanical components
* Oil- and grease-contaminated metal parts
* Bearing housings and compatible mechanical assemblies
* Gears, shafts, chains and connecting elements
* Maintenance tools and assembly fixtures
* Metal mould components
* Compatible production equipment surfaces
* Electrical panels and electrical connections
* Contactors, relays and switching mechanisms
* Printed circuit boards and electronic components
* Parts requiring cleaning before maintenance or assembly
* Mechanisms requiring removal of old lubricant before relubrication

Not every product is suitable for every surface or application. Compatibility must be tested before treating plastics, rubber, elastomers, painted or varnished surfaces, adhesives, seals and insulating materials.

Main Advantages

When the correct product is selected, ACCA solvent-based cleaners may provide the following benefits:

* Effective dissolution of oil and grease
* Rapid cleaning of parts and equipment
* Options for applications where water is undesirable
* Fast- and very-fast-drying alternatives
* Support for shorter maintenance operations
* Convenient aerosol application in difficult-to-reach areas
* Preparation of parts for inspection, maintenance or assembly
* Products for general-purpose and specialised applications
* Dedicated solutions for electrical and electronic equipment
* Controlled use in production and maintenance processes

Selecting the Correct Product

Product selection should be based on the type of contamination, substrate material, part geometry, required evaporation rate and intended application method.

A multipurpose solvent may be suitable for general parts cleaning. Fast- or very-fast-drying products can be selected where components must return quickly to maintenance, inspection or assembly.

Only products specifically developed for the purpose should be used on electrical installations, contactors, electrical panels and electronic circuit boards. A general mechanical cleaning solvent should not be applied to electrical or electronic equipment without verified technical suitability.

Solvents may affect certain plastics and elastomers, potentially causing softening, swelling, cracking, discolouration or loss of surface gloss. A compatibility test should therefore be performed on a small, inconspicuous area before wider application.

Featured ACCA Products

SOLV 105

A professional parts cleaner described by ACCA as a non-flammable multipurpose solvent. It is intended for the removal of different types of industrial contamination.

SOLV 105 may be used for cleaning mechanical parts in maintenance workshops, production plants and compatible parts-washing equipment operating under the conditions specified by ACCA. Application temperature and equipment compatibility must be verified in the technical documentation.

SOLV MEC HD 156

A fast-drying solvent cleaner developed for industrial applications where short drying times are required. It helps remove compatible contamination from metal parts, mechanical components and maintenance equipment.

It provides a practical solution when cleaned parts must proceed quickly to inspection, maintenance or assembly.

SOLVENTE HD 950 BR

A multipurpose degreasing solvent characterised by very fast evaporation and drying. It is designed to remove oil, grease and various types of industrial dirt.

Its rapid drying performance makes it suitable for serial maintenance, metal parts cleaning and applications where lengthy waiting times are undesirable.

ELECTRIC SOLV HD 24/F AEROSOL

An aerosol solvent developed for cleaning electrical installations and circuits. It helps remove appropriate contamination and oxidation residues from electrical panels, contactors, switches, relays, connections and compatible electrical equipment.

The aerosol package enables controlled application in confined and difficult-to-reach areas. The product must only be used for equipment and applications specified in its technical documentation.

ELECTRONIC SOLV HD 24/D AEROSOL

A specialised aerosol solvent designed for electronic equipment and printed circuit boards. It helps remove dust, oily contamination and compatible residues from electronic components.

Compatibility with plastics, surface coatings, printed markings, adhesives and insulating materials must be confirmed before application.

Safe Use on Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Before cleaning electrical or electronic equipment, the system must be shut down, disconnected from its energy source and verified as de-energised. The product must not be applied to energised equipment unless this is expressly permitted in the manufacturer's current technical documentation.

After application, sufficient time must be allowed for complete solvent evaporation and the area must be adequately ventilated. Surfaces should be checked for complete dryness before the equipment is re-energised.

For electrical and electronic applications, dielectric properties, material compatibility, residue behaviour and drying time must be confirmed in the relevant Technical Data Sheet.

Application and Occupational Safety

Depending on the product, application methods may include spraying, wiping, brushing, immersion or use in compatible parts-cleaning equipment. The method must be selected according to the conditions stated in the product's Technical Data Sheet.

During application:

* Review the current Safety Data Sheet and Technical Data Sheet.
* Wear suitable gloves, eye protection and any other required personal protective equipment.
* Provide adequate workplace ventilation.
* Follow the required precautions regarding flames, sparks and hot surfaces according to the product classification.
* Protect aerosol containers from heat and direct sunlight.
* Do not mix the product with other chemicals unless expressly approved by the manufacturer.
* Collect and dispose of used solvent and cleaning waste in accordance with applicable regulations.

The term "non-flammable" applies only to the specific product described as such by ACCA. It must not be assumed that every solvent in this category has the same classification.
