INNOVATIVE WASHING
The configuration of a PET washing line can be very different depending on the contamination of the PET to be recovered. What sets us apart is our ability to design and manufacture customized lines.
Washing plants are divided into different stages according to the characteristics of the input material. In general, PET plants designed by Recy are divided into the following main stages.
Material preparation
This processing cycle consists of robust, easy-to-maintain machines capable of processing PET with high contamination rates.
It represents the first dry cleaning step of the process that can perform removal of most solid contaminants, such as sand and stones, and removal of labels.
Hot / cold prewash
Our prewash system is studied and designed to carry out the removal of most of the impurities present on the surface of the material. This process can be carried out with hot or cold water, depending on the type of contaminants present, such as any label remnants, organic residues, oil, grease, paper, soil, sand, stones, metals, etc. In this way, we can ensure excellent washing of the material, providing greater energy efficiency and minimizing water consumption.
Selection and grinding by water
This section is designed in order to enable the removal of large contaminants by automated or manual systems.
This stage is designed and carried out with special care as it is essential to carry out careful selection and good water grinding to ensure excellent operation of the entire line and excellent final product quality.
Hot washing
Our innovative hot washing system is unique in achieving bottle-to-bottle flake quality because it is able to self-generate heat, through a friction process of the machine itself. Unlike traditional systems, Recy Technologies' system does not require heating systems for water and steam generation, with associated electrical costs and maintenance issues.
In the washing phase, friction leads to a rise in the internal temperature to a maximum of 95°C, ensuring an excellent degree of cleanliness of the material, removing all kinds of impurities and mold inks, with low use of chemical additives, such as caustic soda and detergents.
Unlike conventional plants, an additional feature of which we are deeply proud is our ability to achieve an odor-free ground and/or final granule without the need for additional chemical additives to eliminate odor.
Separation by flotation and rinsing
In this section, a removal of all polyolefins, such as caps and labels, and all other floating material is carried out. The heavier PET material sinks and is discharged into the rinsing system where, in addition to additional washing, traces of the chemical additives are completely removed from the surface of the flakes.
The system designed by Recy Technologies works in a continuous mode, keeping all flakes under friction for a period of time set by the operator, and feeds fresh water continuously, removing all traces of impurities from the flakes, resulting in a perfectly clean material.
Drying and final selection
The machinery in this stage of processing is designed with extreme care in order to remove most of the water content left in the product, reaching a moisture content of less than 1 percent.
Through a fines separation system, any remaining labels, powders, and fine particles are separated, resulting in excellent quality r-pet flakes with no glue residue, minimal levels of PVC and floating material, organic residues tracked between 0 and 40 ppm, and a total absence of chemical additives.
From rejection, we can provide bottle-to-bottle flakes and flakes of excellent quality suitable for making various finished products.
