LUSIN® PROTECT G 31 - Wax Based Mould Protector (Corrosion Inhibitor) and Lubricant
Benefits
- Stable transparent film; resistant to hand contact
- Permanent protection against corrosion
- Suitable for use as a mould release agent
Description
Lusin® Protect G 31 is a highly effective mould protectant (corrosion inhibitor) that also exhibits lubricating properties.
The delayed formation of the solid protective film allows Lusin® Protect G 31 to penetrate very fine cracks. The protective film is resistant to use and starts to melt at about 50 °C (122 °F).
Lusin® Protect G 31 aerosol contains UV light-sensitive pigments that make the protective film visible under UV light (maximum at 366 nm).
Typical Properties
Corrosion protection DIN 50017: No corrosion after 20 hours
Neutral Salt Spray Test according to DIN En ISO 9227: No corrosion after 28 hours
Application
Lusin® Protect G 31 is mainly used to protect moulds and dies dedicated for processing thermoplastic resins against corrosion.
Lusin® Protect G 31 offers maximum protection (corrosion prevention) only when applied on dry and clean metal surfaces. For cleaning, it is recommended to use Lusin® MC1718 or Lusin® Clean L 23 F as mould cleaning agent and Lusin® Clean L 11 or Lusin® Clean L 52 F as degreaser.
Optimum film production is only achieved if Lusin® Protect G 31 is applied in several thin layers, paying particular attention to covering edges and undercuts.
Lusin® Protect G 31 can be removed using degreasers such as Lusin® Clean L 11 or Lusin® Clean L 52 F or by producing parts, so that the mould protector can be transferred to the produced parts.
Preliminary tests are recommended for subsequent processing of the produced parts, such as lacquering, printing or gluing.
